Rammed earth captivates with its linear aesthetic, where rhythmic, stratified layers reveal the artistry of each compacted pour. These natural striations, like geological poetry, create serene, timeless interiors that ground any space. We ram white/off-white limestone aggregates : this base serves as a neutral canvas. Adding iron oxides and pigments allows endless custom color options, achieving soft earthy tones, bold accents, or seamless harmony with surrounding landscapes.

Rammed Earth’s Linear Aesthetic : an authentic, raw elegance.

Rammed earth walls are built as stand alone wall.
The standard thickness of rammed earth walls is generally 250mm for load-bearing walls and 150mm for non load bearing walls. Where niches and recesses are required for fireplaces or other design features, walls can
be constructed to alternative thickness as required by the project.
Avoid placing structural columns within rammed earth walls whenever feasible to minimize the risk of fractures at column embedment points.
We ensures seamless integration of window and door frames by positioning them within the formwork prior to earth compaction, with frames designed to match the wall’s thickness. Recesses are precisely formed by incorporating formers or block-outs into the formwork, allowing soil to be compacted around them to create tailored openings or shapes in the rammed earth wall.
Electrical conduits and wall boxes are rammed into the wall at locations where power-points and light switches are required.
Conduits are also placed into the wall to allow water plumbing pipes to be inserted where required.
Structural engineer should design the foundation to accommodate a rammed earth wall density of 2500 kg/m³.
To protect walls against moisture ingress (rising damp), the following points need to be addressed:
Proper site drainage is required. Installation of vapor barrier between foundation and slab.
Construction of a 75mm exposed slab edge above finished paving/garden level will also help to prevent rising damp from damaging your interior.
During the compression process of the construction of a Rammed Earth wall, the operator is standing on top of the formwork. This implies that where we will have RE wall, there shall be no upper structure (ring beam, floor) built before the RE wall construction has completed.
A clear water based sealer is applied to all walls in wet area (shower, bath tub, basin etc.). This seals the walls while maintaining vapour transfer in and out of the rammed earth.
